14 days...

Hello from Kenya!!

I am amazed to see how God is at work here in Kenya. I don't think it has quite hit me yet that I am here to stay awhile :) I cant believe I left for Kenya just 14 days ago. We have squeezed in a whole lot during those 14 days and I am feeling incredibly blessed to be on this journey.

Kids update: The kids get up at 4:30 am and have to walk to school and be there by 6:00 am. Most of the younger kids arrive back home for the day at 4 or 5 pm and the middle schoolers usually get home at 6:00 pm. They are all pretty exhausted when they arrive back home. I work with them on their homework in the evenings and then I am working to get them to bed earlier.

The needs here are pretty immense and at times can be overwhelming because you cannot meet everyone's needs. As we walked to town yesterday, there was a young girl in a wheelchair. She had severe deformities and needed medical care. My heart was so sad knowing that she most likely has no place to go. This is just one example of the many needs I have seen here in Kenya. It can be hard to see but what is encouraging is knowing that we have rescued many of these children at Encouragement from situations that could be very similar to what I am seeing all around me. These kids have a bright future ahead!

I am working to continue to focus on the kids and helping them as they live their daily lives. God is good and faithful and I am excited to be a part of caring for orphans.
